Do You Know Your Value?

by Teresa Foo

Do you know your value? What exactly do we base that on? Hmm, well, in my case, I think about the fact that we have five beautiful children and two wonderful Sons-in-law. We also have three grandchildren that are BEYOND cute! No words could describe them! We love them so much!!
So, is that where I find my value? I just don’t think that’s enough. I can’t take credit for all of that because God is the Creator, not me. Although, He did see me worthy of such a blessing and I am sooo thankful for that!

Now, truthfully, if I ask myself why I am valuable, I have to struggle through all of those doubts in my mind as to why I’m not. Okay, so, have you ever met a perfect person?? I haven’t, but if I compare myself to them, there are a lot of people that seem close to perfect. They may be thinner, smarter, more beautiful, maybe even more spiritual. Hmm, I wonder if God sees me as less than them. Is that where my value lies, in his eyes?

I learned something the other day. I was kind of upset because of the weight that I have gained since I turned 50. Anyway, I looked at my husband and asked, “How can you love me when I look this way?” He just smiled and gave me a hug and said, “Trese, I love you! You are beautiful to me! Nothing changes that.” So I thought about it, you know, I think that is how God sees us. None of us are perfect in our own eyes, but ALL of us are perfect in His!

We should be all that we can be for Christ, but if we don’t hit that “perfect” mark, it’s okay. Most likely, the person standing next to you hasn’t hit that mark either. Be happy because you are God’s creation and nothing changes that. His love is unconditional, so stop beating yourself up. It’s just a waste of time.

Remember, the joy of the Lord is your strength! (Nehemiah 8:10)

He loves you unconditionally, and that’s what matters the most.
