Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
I am certain those words were spoken to a good friend and brother-in-the-Lord, Joseph Boachie Danquah, and had previously been heard by his wife, Dora. Boachie, as most know him, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2025.
I still recall a letter we received from Boachie in the 1990s. It was a letter of introduction, and as I read it, I knew this was the man we should ask to direct the ministry for us in Ghana, West Africa. Boachie happily accepted the task and did a tremendous job of directing the ministry for many years.
Boachie’s testimony of his coming to the Lord can only be described as a miracle. As I remember, and heard from Boachie, his wife, Dora, knew the Lord as Savior long before Boachie did. Boachie told me he became suspicious of Dora when she would leave home on Sunday mornings and return later. So, one Sunday morning, Boachie followed Dora as she went to church. Boachie carefully slipped into the back of the church, out of his wife’s line of sight. When the pastor gave the message, he made one comment that struck to the very heart of Boachie. The pastor said, “God has a purpose for your life!”. This struck Boachie deeply because, until that moment, he had spent his life distant from God. In Boachie’s way of thinking, his financial obligations were so great that he had given up hope. But on this day, at such a time as this, the man of God preached a message seemingly authored by the Holy Spirit just for Joseph Boachie Danquah. It spoke to his situation in life and offered hope through Jesus Christ.
In short, that morning, Boachie stepped forward and surrendered his heart to Jesus, experiencing the life-changing moment of being born again. God began to use him mightily. Soon, Boachie was asked to minister in churches and became a favorite speaker of many.
We had shipped thousands of Gospel tracts to Ghana. At that time, we were receiving around 50 letters daily, with the majority coming from Ghana. Boachie found one of the tracts, saw our mailing address on the tract, and wrote to us. As I read his letter, I knew he was the one to lead the ministry.
Boachie often ministered accompanied by his wife, Dora. Together, they raised their own family while also caring for several other children who had lost their parents or faced unstable home environments.
I know many rewards were laid up in heaven for the lives of Boachie and Dora.
Some day we will meet again. Until then, rest in peace, brother Boachie and sister Dora.
