Many people mistakenly believe that leprosy is a disease of the past, but it remains to be a problem. In 2021-2022, India reported 75,394 cases, making up 52% of the total cases worldwide.
The majority of people in the world today experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, which made it necessary for everyone to change their lifestyle. We wore masks, made sure we took vitamins and avoided crowds. Think for a second about how your life was transformed then, and you’ll begin to grasp a glimpse of the daily struggles of a leper.
We support two men in India who have a burden on their hearts for lepers. One is Rev. Sikila Cornelius, an evangelist and founder of Grace Children’s Home. The other man is Vital Koli, a young man with a burden for lost souls, children, and lepers. This ministry was recently blessed with generous offerings, and so we believed the blessing should be shared with Vital Koli. We wired Vital $100, and he used that to bless 70 lepers with blankets and loaves of bread. Vital is always working for the Kingdom of God. When he’s not helping lepers, Vital travels on foot between villages spreading the Gospel, often reaching individuals who have never encountered the Word of God.
Below are photos of Vital giving loaves of bread and blankets to people of a leper colony. Look and see what a little can do to brighten the day for many people.
