Step 5 – The Exchange Of Names

The two covenant partners would now trade names. This sounds strange to us today. Why would a man take the name of another? The purpose was so people could identify one man with their covenant partner. When the men exchanged names one man would take the last name of the other and add it as his own middle name.

~ TODAY WE HAVE A BETTER COVENANT, AS PROPHESIED BY JEREMIAH 31:31 ~

IN THE NEW COVENANT:   Just as men exchanged names with each other in Old Testament times we do the same with our Covenant Partner, Jesus, in the New Covenant. In the New Covenant, Jesus became the “Son of man” and we become known as “Christians”.
