In January, 2020, we received word from India about a young handicapped man who received his very first Bible as a gift. His name is Kumar and he lived with his mother.
In the photos you see Kumar receiving his Bible and then proudly hugging it as the photo was taken. When I saw this photo my heart went out to him.
A few days later we also received word the body of Kumar had been found floating in a river. We don’t know what happened except that being handicapped he probably could not swim and may have fallen in accidentally and drowned.
Although very poor, many people knew and liked him as evident by the number of them that followed his body to the burial place.
The point I’m trying to make here is that the Bible tells us God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). Kumar was loved by God and his soul was seen just as significant as the President of India, the President of the U.S., or any king or queen presently reigning on earth.
That’s the way God sees each of His children. When a person receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior, there is great joy in heaven. “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10)
So, we should all be a little envious of Kumar. He is now in the Arms of his Savior and will delight in His presence for eternity.
